  • Kenya

The Danish Family Planning Association (DFPA) is seeking an experienced and qualified consultant to develop a training material on Gender Equality, SGBV and LGBT+, and to build the capacity of our Kenyan partner FHOK in training material development through involvement in this process. See the complete Terms of Reference: ToR

DFPA is a non-governmental organization without religious or political affiliations. We work with associations and organisations within the sphere of sexual and reproductive health and rights and are a member of International Planned Parenthood Federation. DFPA have been working with Family Health Options Kenya (FHOK) for several years. Currently, the DFPA and FHOK are implementing joint projects in Kenya on Gender Equality (G.E.), Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) and LGBT+. Core strategies of these projects are awareness raising and education of health professionals and community volunteers with the aim of building their capacities to train community members on G.E., SGBV and LGBT+ (‘training of trainers’). You can read more about DFPA here: https://sexogsamfund.dk/en/englishfrontpage

DFPA and FHOK both have decades of experience in educating health professionals and community volunteers on topics within Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). DFPA has extensive experience in developing our own sexuality education and materials, especially for a national Danish context. FHOK with the support from DFPA now wish to develop its own training materials within the topics of Gender Equality, Sexual and Gender Based Violence and LGBT+. FHOK is currently in a concurrent process of reviewing their curriculum for comprehensive sexuality education.

Purpose of Review

The purpose of the Consultancy is twofold; firstly it is meant to provide FHOK with their own standard training material to be used in different projects; and secondly, it is the purpose of this assignment that FHOK should gain knowledge of and capacity to be able to develop other SRHR teaching and training materials with external assistance or by themselves beyond this assignment.
